Sue Hodges, age 63, of Knoxville passed away Thursday, october 22, 2014 at her family’s home in Des Moines. Sue’s wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Saturday, October 25th, at the Winfield Funeral Home, with Kim Kelsey officiating. Sue’s family will be greeting friends one hour prior to service time. Sue was born July 18, 1951, in Tacoma, Washington, the daughter of Daniel Lawrence and Blanche (Sailors) Hodges. Sue was a graduate of S.E. Polk High School, Class of 1968. After high school Sue worked and began going to college in Marshalltown and later at DMACC, received her nursing certificate. Sue worked all her life in health care. For many years she worked around the Knoxville area. She was a nurse at the Knoxville Residential for 17 years and most recently work in private health care. Sue was blessed with her three children; Jason, Justin and Genna. Sue also loved learning and knowledge. She especially enjoyed scary movies and her many cats she called “The Boys”. She is survived by her three children, Jason Hodges, Justin Hodges and Genna Hodges all of Knoxville; her one granddaughter Tulia; and Tulia’s father, Angel Escorcia. Sue is also survived by her sister-in-law Vivian Hodges. She is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Blanche Hodges and her two brothers, Charles Guiles and James Hodges. A memorial has been established for Sue’s family. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Sue’s family with arrangements.
