Mary Patrica "Pat" Shaw

Mary Patrica (Pat) Shaw After a long, debilitating and often painful illness our Pat has been called to rest on July 18, 2015 at the Hy-lond Health and Rehab Center in Fresno California. She was a Graduate of Centerville Iowa High School, and the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing School in Des Moines Iowa, Pat was a dedicated nurse, more than willing to share her knowledge and expertise with any family member or friend who showed the slightest tinge of a sniffle. In her later years after her parents health started to deteriorate, she served as their primary caretaker. After nursing school Pat worked as an RN at St. Joseph's Hospital in Centerville, and later St Joseph's hospital in Ottumwa Iowa. In 1961 she transferred to the VA hospital in Knoxville Iowa where she worked until 1977. After Knoxville, she worked at the VA hospitals in Fort Wayne Indiana, Milwaukee Wisconsin and lastly in Fresno. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mary Shaw, her brother Tom, sisters Colleen and Elizabeth Jane aka Betty. She is survived by her sister Peg (Del) Lins, Tucson Arizona, her sister Barb Mavrogeorge, Fresno California, and her brother Joe (Camille), Milwaukee Wisconsin, and several nieces nephews and cousins. Visitation in Fresno will be at the Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns and Blair Funeral home 1525 East Saginaw, Fresno CA at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 28th. The funeral mass will be held at St Anthony's Catholic Church, 1201 Woodland Dr., Knoxville, IA at 11:00 A.M, Friday July 31, followed by an interment service at the Graceland Cemetery located the intersection of Pleasant Street and Willetts Drive in Knoxville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a contribution to the charity of your choice.
