Iverna DeMoss

Iverna Louise DeMoss, age 76, of Knoxville passed away at her home on December 5, 2013, surrounded by her family. Iverna was born on January 19, 1937 in Marysville, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard Sr. and Mamie Pearl Goemaat. Iverna attended school in Lovilia and Attica. On February 6, 1954 at the Nazarene Church in Knoxville Iverna and Wayne E. ?Doc? DeMoss were united in marriage. Iverna and Doc were blessed with over 59 years of marriage and four children: Debra, Dennis, Darla and Daryl. Iverna was a homemaker and had worked at the Knoxville V.A. Hospital in the kitchen, the overall Factory and Pella Corp for 30 years before retiring. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, and quilt maker. Her and Doc enjoyed square-dancing, motorcycle trips all over the United States and Montana cattle drives. Iverna loved her family and always was willing to help and give to others, especially her family and friends. Iverna is survived by her husband, Wayne ?Doc? DeMoss; their children, Debra (Rocky) Agan, Dennis (Diana) DeMoss, Darla Rinehart (Mark Harrison) and Daryl (Christine) DeMoss all of Knoxville; nine grandchildren, Jodi, Josh, Derrick, Tara, Jennifer, Dustin, Kyle, Cheyenne, and Jaimie; and three great-grandchildren, Avery, Brinley, and Tucker. Iverna is also survived by her brother, Leonard Goemaat, Jr. of Lovilia and her sister, Jayne McKim of Albia. She was preceded by her parents, Leonard and Pearl; her brother Chet Goemaat and her sister Hazel Ethell. Iverna?s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville. Iverna?s family will be present Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 9, 2013 at the New Covenant Church of Knoxville with Pastor Jim Mead officiating. Burial will follow services at Graceland Cemetery of Knoxville. A memorial has been established to Hospice of Pella, Marion County Home Health or to the New Covenant Church.
