Vera Peterson

Vera Haworth Peterson Vera Hayworth Peterson, age 94, of Des Moines, formerly of Lovilia, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Ramsey Village Care Center in Des Moines. Vera was born on November 25, 1915, in Monroe County, Iowa to L.L. and Lou (Summers) Hayworth. She grew up and attended school in Georgetown. On April 25, 1941, she married Everett Peterson of Lovilia where they made their home until she moved to Des Moines in 2005 to be near her daughter. Vera is survived by her daughter, Karen (Robert) Bakkie of Des Moines; five step-grandchildren, Christopher (Sheryl) Bakkie of West Des Moines, Cheryl Feickert of Beaverdale, Teresa and Carol Bakkie of Urbandale, and Richard Bakkie of Denver, Colorado; seven step-great grandchildren; Vera is also survived by two sisters, Pearl Hall of Des Moines, and Maxine Martens of Martensdale; and one brother, James ?Joe? (Roberta) Hayworth of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, L.L. and Lou; her husband, Everett; two sisters, Ruby Jones and Opal Fillman; and three brothers, Roy, Sylvester and Glen Hayworth. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00A.M., Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, with Rev. Neil Montz officiating. Burial will follow services at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia. Visitation will begin at 10:00a.m., until time of service, Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, with Vera?s family present. A Memorial has been established to the Lovilia Community Center.
