Ronald LaVerne Douglas, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on May 19, 2018, at his residence in Knoxville. Ronald was born in Tracy, Iowa on January 10, 1944 to Claude and Esther (Peterson) Douglas He was the youngest of four children. Ronald grew up in Tracy, Iowa and graduated from Twin Cedars High School, Class of 1962. He was married on April 12, 1964 to Carol Joyce Ensor. They were blessed with two daughters; Rhonda and Tonya, and one son; Gregory Lee who died in infancy. Ronald was employed at the V.A. Hospital for 37 years, he worked in the maintenance department as a painter. After retirement from the V.A., he worked in the Knoxville School System, HIRTA, and Evans-McCleery Funeral Service. When Ron was younger, he enjoyed playing slow pitch softball and also liked to fish. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and was a big fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed going to classic car shows and the sprint car races. He was also a devoted grandfather to his two granddaughters. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; Claude and Esther Douglas, one sister; Mae Kennedy, one brother; Dean Douglas, and his son; Gregory Lee Douglas, who died in infancy. Remaining to cherish his memory are his devoted wife; Joyce of Knoxville, two daughters; Rhonda Douglas of Knoxville, and Tonya (Mike) McMurray of Knoxville, one brother; Clarence “Stick” (Verna) Douglas of Pella, and two granddaughters; Peyton and Paige McMurray of Knoxville. Ron’s wishes were to be cremated, with no services at this time. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to HCI Hospice of Knoxville, and the Marion County Humane Society.
