Paul Dean “P.D.” Davis, age 67 of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Mercy Medical Center of Des Moines, Iowa. P.D.’s wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of P.D.’s life will begin at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville. P.D.’s family will be present from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Pastor Brian Steele will be concluding services at 8:00 P.M. Paul was born in Knoxville, Iowa, on September 5, 1948, the youngest of nine children of Loren Wayne and Bertha Mae (Wallace) Davis. P.D. attended and graduated from Twin Cedars High School, Class of 1966. After high school P.D. graduated from Centerville Community College and then went on and attended North East Missouri State through 1970. During college P.D. began working for the BNSF Railroad. He stayed working with BNSF Railroad for 32 years and for many years P.D. was the track inspector. On October 5, 1990 in Knoxville, Iowa Paul Dean Davis and Connie (Maloy) Steele were united in marriage. P.D. and Connie were blessed to share their love and home of almost 26 years with their children: Kelly, Casey, Brian and Kerrey. P.D. enjoyed several hobbies including bird hunting, with Brittney bird dogs, and mushroom hunting. P.D. was a wonderful socializer. He could start up a conversation with anyone. He liked to have coffee time with his cronies and he enjoyed going to the sale barn. P.D. was a Hawkeye fan and he enjoyed sports. His biggest enjoyments were with his family. Watching his children in sports and activities. P.D. was very proud of his family and loved them dearly. His survivors include his wife Connie Maloy-Steele Davis of Knoxville; his daughter, Kelly (Steve) Gullion of Norwalk and his son Casey (Katie) Davis of Norwalk; Connie’s two children, Pastor Brian (Skye) Steele of Chandler, Arizona and Kerrey (Scott) Eddy of Oskaloosa; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Ruth Bish of Woodburn, IA; his brother Ronald (Jean) Davis of Geneva, IA; and two sister-in-law's, Irene Davis of Knoxville and Evelyn Davis of Newton. P.D. is preceded in death by his parents Loren Wayne and Bertha Davis; four brothers, Lowell in infancy, Loren, Vern, and Boyd Davis; two sisters, Lola Arendale and Letha Braden; three brother-in-law's, Ray Arendale, Leon Braden and Ival Bish; and his sister-in-law Carol Davis. A memorial has been established in P.D.’s name to the Marion County Humane Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be sent to WWW.winfieldfh.com.
