Michelle Lynn (Vande Kamp) Brees, age 48, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Serenity House in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Michelle’s wishes were to be cremated and a visitation for Michelle will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M, on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville. Michelle’s family will be present on Tuesday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A celebration of Michelle’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 15, 2017, also at the Winfield Funeral Home, with Swann Juline officiating. Michelle was born in Knoxville, Iowa, on August 30, 1968. She grew up in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School, class of 1986. During high school Michelle worked at Adventureland Park in Altoona. During and after high school Michelle was a hard worker with good work skills. She worked and managed many local places. She managed a Casey’s, Tasos, Country Kitchen, Biscottis, Breadaux, and from 2010 to February of 2016 she managed the America’s Best Value Inn of Oskaloosa. On September 2, 1989, at an overlook point, in the White Breast Park, Michelle and Bryan Ray Brees were united in marriage. They shared over 27 years of marriage and were blessed with three children; Joshua, Haley Noel, and Abby. Michelle’s joy in life was her family. She supported her children in every school activity they enjoyed. She like the outdoors and always looked forward to camping, fishing, and mushroom hunting. A favorite pastime was baseball during the summer. She was also a St. Louis Cardinal and Green Bay Packer fan. Michelle is survived by her husband Bryan Brees and their two children, Joshua Brees and Abby Brees, all of Oskaloosa, Iowa. Michelle is also survived by her two brothers Tony Brown of Pleasantville and Monte Brown of Knoxville; one sister Melissa Brown of Oskaloosa; and 11 nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents Roger Brown and Patty (Vande Kamp) Brown; her grandparents, Glenn and Bernita Vande Kamp and Ralph and Berniece Brown; and her daughter Haley Noel Brees. A memorial has been established in Michelle’s memory to her family or the Serenity House of Oskaloosa. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Michelle’s family with services.
