Mary Agnes Skinner, age 80, of Albia passed away Monday February 7, 2011 at Oakwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albia. Mary was born January 6, 1931 to James and Ella (Coady) Murphy near Melrose. Mary graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1949. Mary married Gene Skinner on February 9, 1957; to this union two sons were born, Richard and Mark before Genes passing in 1959. She worked for public health for a number of years, and she also worked at the Monroe County Hospital as a nursing assistant. Mary was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church of Albia, and St. Mary?s Altar and Rosary Society. Mary is survived by her children, Richard Skinner of Albia, and Mark Skinner of Albia. Mary is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gene Skinner; 2 sisters, Cecilia Smith and Helen Vaughan; and a brother, Ed Murphy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00A.M., Thursday, February 10, 2011, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Albia, with Rev. Michael E. Volkmer C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose. Following the burial there will be a luncheon at St. Mary?s Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M., noon on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. Mary?s family will be present from 6 to 8:00 P.M. A rosary will be led Wednesday at 4:00 P.M., provided by St. Mary?s Altar and Rosary Society and a Christian Wake Service will also be held at the funeral home, Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M.
