Mae Marie Wignall age 93, of Knoxville, passed away at her home on Thursday January 8, 2015. Funeral services for Mae will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville, with Bob Bingham officiating. Burial will follow services at Graceland Cemetery. Mae’s family will be greeting friends on Monday at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Mae was born in Lamoni, Iowa on October 31, 1921, the daughter of Emanuel and Lillian (Harrington) Roberts. She was a graduate of Lamoni High School, Class of 1940. On June 15, 1940 Mae and Tom Wignall were united in marriage. They shared over 55 years of marriage together, and were blessed with four children: Tommy,Linda, Jackie, and Muggs. Tom died on February 26, 1996. Mae was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed raising her family and sharing in her grandchildren’s lives. She liked spending summers at the Lake of the Ozarks. Flower gardening, outdoor wildlife and she was a wonderful cook and baker. Mae is survived by three children, Linda (Dr. Earl) McKeever of Knoxville, Jackie Smith of St. Peters, MO, and Muggs Crandall of Des Moines; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Wignall of St. Petersburg, FL; 18 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Grace Roberts; one son, Tommy Wignall; one grandson, T.K. Wignall; one great-grandson; one brother, Clair Roberts and one sister, Jean Puder. A memorial in Mae’s memory has been established to the Kiwanis Miracle Playground, Marion County Humane Society, or the Knoxville Hospice of Central Iowa.
