Lynda Faye Machavsky

September 17, 1947 - July 27, 2017

Lynda F. Machovsky, age 69 of Knoxville and formerly of Aurora, South Dakota passed away Thursday morning, July 27, 2017 at the Hospice Comfort House of Pella. Memorial service for Lynda will be held at 11:0 A.M., Monday, July 31st, 2017 at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville. Lynda’s family will be greeting friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time. A private family burial will be held at a later date in North Dakota. Lynda Faye Brandt was born September 17, 1947 in Grafton, North Dakota the daughter of Olaf and Mabel (Larson) Brandt. Lynda attended and graduated from Park River, North Dakota High School, Class of 1966. After high school Lynda married and was blessed with two daughters, Denise and Lori. They later divorced and Lynda moved back to Park River, North Dakota. Lynda lived for a short time in Park River and meet Donald Dean Machovsky. Lynda and Don were united in marriage on September 9, 1977. They have shared almost 40 years of marriage together before Lynda’s passing and were blessed with two sons; Jeff and Dave. Shortly after their marriage Lynda and Don moved to Aurora, South Dakota, were Lynda was a certified nurse’s assistant and worked for 20 years with the United Retirement Center of Brookings. Lynda was a good and devoted worker for many years and after her retirement in 2015 Lynda and Don moved to Knoxville to be closer to their sons. Lynda always enjoyed keeping in touch with her family and friends. She loved to tell stories that would have everyone in the room laughing. She liked fresh flowers, she played bean bag toss and many years of bingo. Lynda was a wonderful woman that was loved, will be missed, and will be cherished. Lynda is survived by her husband of 39 years Don Machovsky of Knoxville; two daughters, Denise (Stacey) Bussie and Lori (Shawn) Petersen both of Clinton, IA; two sons, Jeff (Michele) Machovsky and Dave Machovsky both of Knoxville; and one step son, Brian Machovsky of Spokane Valley, Washington; and 7 grandchildren, Leesha and husband Tyler Cahoy, Natalie Bussie, Kayla Bussie, Preston Petersen, and Perry Petersen. Lynda is also survived by two brothers, William “Bill” and wife Teresa Brandt and Robert and wife Maxine Brandt; three sisters, Joni and husband John Anderson, Deanna Determan, and Maureen Novak; and several nieces and nephews. Lynda is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jerome “Pudie”, James “Jimmy”, and Leigh Brandt; and her sister Connie Cernik. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com.
