Lorentis Clyde Culver

Lorentis “Clyde” Culver, Tracy, Iowa, passed away on June 5, 2018, at the Knoxville Hospital in the Emergency Department. Clyde was born November 21, 1953, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Peggy Lou (Whitten) and Marvin Eugene Culver. He was raised in Albia and Tracy, Iowa. When he was younger, he often helped his dad on the dairy farm. Clyde graduated from Twin Cedars High School in 1972. Clyde joined the Navy in 1976 and served his country for four years. He was stationed on the USS Pharris and was awarded a bronze star on September 21, 1980. He was united in marriage to Sally Carter for 13 years and had two sons; Lorentis Elliott and Beau Edward , also one stepdaughter; Holly. For a short time, Clyde worked in telephone construction, before and after the Navy. For many years, he was employed with Ben Shinn Trucking and for over 20 years, he worked at the Tracy Elevator, where he retired in 2017. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Peggy Lou (Whitten) in 2004 and Gene Culver in 2005 and his lifelong friend Dwaine Beal. Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons; Lorentis Elliott (Jennifer) Culver of Albia, and Beau Edward Culver of Russell, his stepdaughter; Holly Pearson of Nashville, TN, three sisters; Judy DeJong of Tracy, Dianna (Don) Jepner of Brooklyn, and Regina (Mark) Bemisdarfer of Lake Havasu, AZ, his lifelong friend; Ronnie VanEssen, and two grandchildren; Kohl Tomlin and Shelby Culver. A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the Bellefountaine Cemetery in Tracy, Iowa.
