Joe Marion Williams, age 83, of Bussey, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa. Joe was born September 15, 1927 near Eddyville, IA to Bryan Jennings and Lille Mae (Clair) Williams. He grew up and went to school in the Eddyville area. Joe drove truck for John Hughes. He married JoHanna Marie Schippers of Buxton on September 6, 1947 in Chariton, IA. To this union, 4 children were born, Marty, Lillian, Mary Jo, and Brad. Joe drove a rural milk truck, farmed, and eventually went to work at Maloney?s Door Factory in Albia (later known as Chamberlain?s). After Chamberlain?s closed, Joe drove truck for Robert Rozenboom, Allen?s, and Marvin Duckworth. In January 1970, at the age of 43, Joe obtained his GED, which was a great accomplishment for him. He was very proud of finishing his education. Joe and JoHanna belonged to the Monroe County Saddle Club for years. Joe had a passion for his horses; he shoed many horses for himself and others. He enjoyed going to the Old Threshers in Mount Pleasant. He had a collection of Allis Chalmers tractors. Joe loved going to tractor pulls and helped to put together several pulls in Bussey. Joe and JoHanna also enjoyed square dancing. Joe is survived by his wife, JoHanna; his children, Marty (Paulette) Williams of Tracy, Lillian Dolentz of Minnetonka, MN, Mary Jo Grimes (Tim Selby) of Bussey, and Brad (Pam) Williams of Bussey; 13 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Joe is also survived by a brother, Irvin Williams of Moravia; 2 sisters, Ida Current of Ottumwa and Ann Post of Albia He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Ed and Kenneth; a grandson, Christopher; good friends, Case and Mike Keegel; and many relatives and friends.
