Harold Dean Gotta Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Harold Dean Gotta, age 82 of Knoxville, Iowa passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Knoxville Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa. Visitation for Harold will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville. Harold’s family will be greeting family and friends from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held at the Celebrate Community Church in Knoxville at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 4, 2017 with Pastor Brent Hanna officiating. Harold’s family would like to invite family and friends to a luncheon at the Celebrate Community Church immediately following the service. Harold was born July 7, 1934 near Lovilia, Iowa; the son of John D and Stella Pearl (Winegardner) Gotta. The family moved to a farm near Tracy, Iowa in 1947. Harold graduated from Tracy High School in 1952. In 1953, the family moved to Knoxville, Iowa. Harold married Linda Kissinger on October 18, 1953, and to this union five children were born. Harold worked for Marion County Produce, Knoxville Police Department where he was Assistant Chief and the was employed by Mid-American Energy for 37 years, retiring in 1996. Harold was a member of the Knoxville Fire Department for 14 years. He loved to hunt, fish, and spending time in his woodworking shop. In his later years, he collected antique tractors and liked to show them in parades. He dearly loved his family and was happiest when they were around him. Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda; three sons, Steve (Phyllis) Gotta of Altoona, Iowa, Tim (Betsy) Gotta and John (Terri) Gotta; two daughters, Lisa (Dave) Ridnouer and Valerie Gotta all of Knoxville; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren (the seventh great grandchild to be born in June); and one aunt, Blanche Havener of Oskaloosa. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl Gotta; his mother and father-in-law, Florence and Foster Kissinger; one brother-in-law, Arthur Churchill; one sister-in-law, Sally Caulkins; one daughter-in-law, Kelli Gotta. Memorial contributions may be made to Knoxville Area Community Hospital Foundation-Pulmonary Rehab Department.
