Dorothy Perry

Dorothy Valerie Perry, age 91, of Albia, died Thursday December 25, 2008, at Oakwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albia, Iowa. Dorothy was born February 15, 1917 in Appanoose County, Iowa to Lewis Guy and Blanch (Gladfelder) McKern. She attended school in Moravia and graduated from Moravia High School, Class of 1934. Dorothy married Elbert Perry on December 2, 1938 in Unionville, MO. Elbert died in July of 1993. Dorothy taught school in rural Appanoose County, before marring Elbert. After marriage she was a homemaker and worked at Chamberlains in Albia for twenty years. Dorothy was a member of the former Christian Church of Iconium. Dorothy is survived by three nieces, Jean Paxton and her husband Boyd of Mount Pleasant, IA, Carol Ann Jeonks and her husband John of Knoxville, IA, and Patty Bruce of Hartford, IA; two nephews, Richard Perry and his wife Vicky of Centerville, IA, and Gary Perry and his wife Delores of Albia, IA. Dorothy is also survived by one sister-in-law, Ester Perry of Albia, IA. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Blanch; her husband, Elbert; and one sister, Doris Long
