Dixie Jan Fee

Dixie Jan Fee, age 79, of Bussey, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015, at the Homestead Memory Care Center of Knoxville. She was born on September 14, 1936 in Iowa City, Iowa, to Owen Cleo and Cloris Ellis (Trinkle) Bonnett. Dixie was raised around Bussey and graduated from Bussey High School, Class of 1955. After high school Dixie served in the Women’s Army Corp. She then attended nursing school and she worked in Des Moines during the week and traveled back to Bussey on the weekends to be with her family. Dixie married Donald Keith Fee, on July 30, 1960. They shared 41 years of marriage together and she helped raise four step children: Linda, Tim, Denny, and Mike. Dixie loved music all her life, and in her youth she sang in the church choir. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Dixie was a wonderful farm wife who loved the outdoors, especially her animals and fishing. She was an excellent butcher, cook, and baker. Dixie also was an active member of the Bussey United Methodist Church and was a former treasurer. Dixie is survived by three brothers, all of Bussey, Terry (Pam) Bonnett, Lee (Debbie Farrow) Bonnett, and Craig (Judy) Bonnett; and four step children, Linda Messamaker, Tim Fee, Denny Fee, and Mike Fee. Dixie is preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Cloris Bonnett; her husband Donald Keith Fee; and her special friend and companion Norman Engstrom.
