Curtis Leo Null Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Curtis Leo Null, Sr., age 74, of Knoxville passed away Wednesday morning, November 5, 2014, at the Greenfield Manor in Greenfield, Iowa. Visitation for Curtis will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville. Curtis’ family will be present Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 10th, at the First Assembly of God Church of Knoxville, with Pastor Karen Norton officiating. Burial will follow services at Graceland Cemetery of Knoxville. Curtis was born December 23, 1939, in Crocker, Missouri, the son of James Earl and Marthelle (Cusick) Null. Curtis worked most of his life outdoors as a tree arborist. He climbed and trimmed trees for over 30 years and was the founder, owner and operator of Null’s Tree Service. Curtis enjoyed being outdoors. He fished, hunted, mushroom hunted, arrowhead hunted and ginseng hunted. The love and joy of his life was playing his fiddle. For several years Curtis traveled, competed and won many awards with his fiddle, his storytelling liars contests with the Illinois Talented Country Music Association. Curtis is survived by his six daughters, Joyce Clarke of Knoxville, Mary “Jeannie” (Roger) Benton of Greenfield, Barb Lankford of Seymour, Lisa (Dan) Beaman of Greenfield, Christie Hill of Knoxville and Jessie (Kyle) Wilson of Knoxville; one son, James Null of Knoxville; 32 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 14 step great-grandchildren. Curtis is also survived by eight siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marthelle; his daughter, Jane Dabb; his son, Curtis Leo “Simon” Null, Jr.; his son-in-law, Tom Clarke, Jr; three great-grandchildren, Trey and Trenton Null and Peyton Klobnak; one step great-grandchild, Zayden Lee Benton; and one brother, Vernon Null.
