Clyde L Jones

Clyde L. Jones of Knoxville passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the age of 85. Clyde was born December 25, 1930 in Bussey, Iowa to Lewis William and Marie (Plum) Jones. He lived most of his life in Bussey, graduating from Bussey High School in 1948. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan Stephens, they made their home for a short time in Bussey and Monroe, before settling in Knoxville. Clyde retired from Maytag after a 30 year career and upon retiring, he and Joan moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas, a town they especially enjoyed while on their many camping adventures. Moving from Mountain Home, they traveled and camped year round before choosing to spend winters in Mission, Texas and summers in Iowa. For Clyde, planning the trip was as much fun as the traveling and they made many friends along the way. Clyde loved camping, traveling, fishing, mushrooming and being with family and friends. He was known as an avid reader and was rarely without a book. He is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Frances Joan; children, John R. Jones of Knoxville, Judith (Brian) Foreman of Parker, Colorado; Suzanne Morgan of Knoxville; Grandchildren, Nathan (Jamie) Foreman and Joel (Monica) Foreman of Minnesota; Zachary Jones, Drew and Natalie Morgan, all of Knoxville; and many cousins. Clyde is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Mildred (Garritt) Ryke formerly of Pella, Iowa; Ruth (Lee) Koopman of Arizona; his son-in-law, J.P. Morgan of Knoxville; and his grandmother, Susan Plum, who raised him from age 8. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville with family present from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M. at the Winfield Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick Smith officiating. A family burial will be held on a later date at Graceland Cemetery.
