Ruth attended Perry Country School, that was across the road from the family farm where she was raised. Ruth lived at the family farm until her senior high school year when she moved into an apartment with friends so she could graduate from Perry High School, Class of 1949. In 1948, at the Perry Theatre, Ruth met Carl Fredrick Schwanebeck. Carl and Ruth were married two years later, on September 10, 1950. They lived in Perry and had three boys, Curt, Cris, and Cort. Ruth was a wonderful homemaker and for 25 years she worked as a bank teller at Iowa State Savings Bank in Knoxville.
