Dick Klobnak, age 84 of rural Hamilton, Iowa died Saturday morning, October 1, 2016 at the Mercy Medical Center of Des Moines. Visitation for Dick will begin at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 3, 2016, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville. Dick’s family will be greeting friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday evening. Funeral services of Dick will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at the Winfield Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow services at Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton, Iowa. Dick was born at his parents’ home in Hamilton, Iowa on October 1, 1932, the son of Rosie Joe and Genevieve (Yeutsey) Klobnak. Dick was raised in Hamilton and he attended Hamilton School until the eighth grade. He then went to Lovilia High school and graduated from the Class of 1950. After high school Dick began working and later served in the United States Army. He served from 1952 to 1953, during the Korean Conflict. After his service Dick worked at the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville for 30 years, until his retirement in 1989. On April 2nd of 1955 Dick and Janice Louise Slay were united in marriage. They shared over 61 years of marriage before Dick’s passing and were blessed with six boys: Randy, Dannie Dean, Tim, David Lee, Joe, and Jonathan. Dick enjoyed people and visiting with people. He was a founding member and trustee of the Lovilia Community Church. He also led the church song service. Dick was a long time deer hunter, and a lifetime mushroom hunter. He also liked auctions, flea markets, and picking up corn from the farm fields for his squirrels. Dick is survived by his wife of 61 years Janice Klobnak of rural Hamilton; six sons, Randy (Ardeth) Klobnak of Hamilton, Dannie Dean Klobnak of rural Hamilton, Tim (Deanna) Klobnak of Hamilton, David Lee Klobnak of Hamilton, Joe (Tina) Klobnak of Marysville, and Jonathan Klobnak of Hamilton; six grandchildren, Scott (Staci) Klobnak, Amy (Derek) DeHaai, Zach Klobnak, Rachael (Jason) Seebeck, Chris (Melinda) Frost, and Neil (Jade) Frost; and six great-grandchildren, Keethan, Kash, Karli, Kelsi, Sabrina, and Huxton. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Rosie and Genevieve Klobnak; his brother Ronald J. Klobnak; one granddaughter Jamie Leigh; and one great-granddaughter Peyton. A memorial has been established to the Lovilia Community Church. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Dick’s family with arrangements. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com.
